Philadelphia’s current development review process is unpredictable and cumbersome, involving up to 14 city departments, agencies and boards. The chart to the left is from the 2004 report “If We Fix It, They Will Come” and illustrates the key steps in a typical development process in Philadelphia.
The report was released by the Building Industry Association and endorsed by more than a dozen city organizations in an effort to reform the development system in Philadelphia. In this feature of the website, the When we Fix It Coalition will post any new reforms, procedures and other changes that impact the development review process. The website will track improvements and problems for residents and investors who need to obtain permits to renovate or build.
