Greenberger to serve as Interim Deputy Mayor
Mayor’s Office
Mayor Nutter named ZCC chair and city planning director Alan Greenberger to replace commerce director and deputy mayor for planning and economic development Andrew Altman while the administration conducts a national search for his replacement. Altman announced in May that he would be taking a position in London to oversee Olympic Park development before and after the 2012 games. His last day was June 26. The mayor also appointed Kevin Dow acting chief operating officer of the Commerce Department to assist Greenberger with his new responsibilities there and Joe Syrnick, currently the vice chairman of the city planning commission, will serve as interim chair until Altman is replaced. According to a report posted on PlanPhilly, Mr. Greenberger asked planning commission staff for their support as his duties expand, but said his “long-term goal is to remain the Director of Planning.”
