Will developers be welcome in Fairmount Park?

Councilmember Krajewski introduces legislation that could open the park to development on May 7, but the bill was withdrawn from City Council consideration May 19. Bill 090380 would amend the uses permitted in recreational districts to include single-family residential development, conference centers, parking facilities and other uses. The bill was intended to resolve specific issues related to the historic Glen Foerd estate, which is located in her district. However, vague language used in drafting the bill could have opened all of Fairmount Park to development.
